Apéritif: 2021 Berry Bros. & Rudd Gavi di Gavi by Roberto Sarotto ($22 – rating: 4.1 / 5.0)

The evening began with a refreshing Berry Bros. & Rudd Gavi di Gavi, demonstrating the elegance of the Cortese grape. Notes of green apple, pear and subtle minerality created a vibrant and lively palate, providing a delightful start to the tasting.

Wine 1: 2021 Roero Arneis, Bruno Giacosa ($38 – rating: 4.0 / 5.0)

The Bruno Giacosa Roero Arneis presented a charming floral bouquet with hints of pear and apricot. Its round, smooth palate combined with a refreshing acidity highlighted the quality of white wines from the region.

Wine 2: 2019 Solea, Langhe Bianco, Roagna ($103 – rating: 4.2 / 5.0)

The Langhe Bianco Solea from Roagna, an intriguing Chardonnay and Nebbiolo blend, displayed beautiful complexity with notes of honeyed orchard fruit and subtle floral undertones, supplemented by a crisp acidity and a long, satisfying finish.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Wine 3: 2021 Dolcetto d’Alba, Cantina della Stazione, Fletcher ($30 – rating: 3.8 / 5.0)

Moving to the reds, the Fletcher Dolcetto d’Alba displayed the delicate and fruity characteristics typical of the grape, showcasing fresh cherry and plum notes with a hint of spice. Its light-bodied structure paired well with the charcuterie.

Wine 4: 2019 Barbera d’Asti, La Crena, Vietti ($64 – rating: 3.9 / 5.0)

The Vietti Barbera d’Asti offered a deep ruby color and ripe dark fruits on the nose. It was rich and structured, with good acidity and a distinct cherry and blackberry palate.

Wine 5: 2019 Langhe Nebbiolo, Diego e Damiano Barale ($37 – rating: 4.1 / 5.0)
