E. Guigal
Côtes-du-Rhône Rouge 2010
An okay mature Côtes-du-Rhône. Ruby with distinct brick edges. The nose shows clear tertiary development – dried red fruits and leather dominate, with fading garrigue herbs in the background. The palate has lost its primary fruit freshness – what remains are notes of dried cherries, leather, and earthy spice. The tannins have fully softened but the acidity is now a bit prominent, suggesting the wine is past its peak. The finish is relatively short.
